Orthodontic Options at Rio Dental & Orthodontics

Our clinics offer two orthodontic options, traditional braces and Invisalign® clear braces.

Traditional Braces

Whiles braces have been used for over a hundred years to close gaps and straighten teeth, today’s versions are smaller and sleeker than those your parents or grandparents may have worn. And for good measure, they are also the most cost-effective option for those seeking orthodontic treatment.

The anatomy of traditional braces is really pretty simple. Metal or ceramic brackets are bonded to the front of your teeth, and wires are run between the brackets. The wires play an essential role in applying pressure on the teeth.

Small but powerful elastic bands – known as intermaxillary elastics – help hold the brackets and wires together and are an essential part of the alignment process.

Yes, there is some initial discomfort, but that lessens over time as your mouth “toughens up” and becomes accustomed to your braces.

During the course of treatment, patients return to one of our clinics periodically to have the wires and rubber bands replaced.

You can find more information here on orthodontic treatment using traditional braces.

Invisalign® Clear Braces

If you would prefer a more discrete orthodontic look, we have an option for you too! With Invisalign®, there are no brackets, wires, or rubber bands. Instead, the If you prefer a less noticeable form of orthodontic treatment, Invisalign® may be your option choice. This form of treatment involves wearing a series of clear plastic custom-fit aligners designed just for you. All aligners are made of medical-grade thermoplastic. That means you won’t have to deal with metal brackets, wires, and elastic bands that are part of the more traditional approach to teeth straightening.

During treatment, patients will wear somewhere between 18 to 30 different aligners. Each aligner will work for several weeks before being replaced by the next in the series.

The Invisalign® option is a great choice for older teens, young adults, and older adults who, for appearance’s sake, are not excited about wearing traditional metal braces.

Age is No Barrier

Please understand, age is no barrier to getting orthodontic treatment. Healthy teeth can be moved at any age, and you’re never too old to have that beautiful, radiant smile!

At the other end of the age spectrum, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child get an orthodontic checkup no later than age seven. Treatment is rare at that age, but early intervention may help prevent future problems.

Payment Options – Medicaid and CHIP

At our clinics throughout the Dallas – Ft. Worth metroplex, we want our fellow Texans to enjoy the very best dental care possible, and that is why we accept Medicaid patients and those covered by CHIP. Some of the dental services for children covered by Medicaid and CHIP include:

  • Regular exams
  • Dental cleanings
  • X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Tooth extractions
  • Fluoride treatment

In addition to these preventative care services, some orthodontic services are available through Medicaid and CHIP for children experiencing serious dental problems requiring correction.

So, if you’re seeking an orthodontist in Dallas that accepts Medicaid or CHIP, you have come to the right place!

As we like to say in all our clinics, we never want dollars to stand in the way of you and your children getting the dental care you need. If you’re looking for affordable dental care and a state-of-the-art orthodontic practice for you or your child, you need to look no further than Rio Dental & Orthodontics.

We want you and your family to have beautiful, healthy smiles and urge you to contact our Dallas office to schedule an appointment for your initial consultation.

You can play a part in preparing your child for his or her first visit to our office. Informing your child of the visit as an exciting experience for both of you can ease any hesitations. As a parent try to act relaxed, since your child may sense any anxiety on your part.

Explain to your child that the doctor will “count, brush, and maybe take pictures of their teeth”. We also ask that you assume the role of a silent observer. Cooperation and trust must be established directly between the doctor, staff, and your child and not through you. Your child may become confused if receiving instructions from multiple sources.

We recommend bringing your baby in for their first dental appointment by their first birthday, or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing (whichever comes first). During this appointment, we will examine your baby’s mouth to track their dental development and discuss age-appropriate dental care.

It’s easy to make appointments to visit our office online or over the phone. Rio Dental sees patients both for checkups and dental emergencies. Using our online scheduler, you can select the location and time slot that works best for you for either type of appointment. If you have any questions regarding our practice, or simply prefer to make your appointment with a live member of staff, please don’t hesitate to call!

Rio Dental Group accepts most PPO insurances. We recommend that new patients and returning patients with new insurance policies reach out to us before their appointment to confirm coverage. Our Fort Worth location also sees patients who are covered by Medicaid and CHIP programs.

We don’t like surprises, either! Our staff is prepared to discuss the cost of dental services before you undergo treatment so that you know what to expect in terms of fees. The cost of your services will be due at the end of your appointment. Our office accepts payment by cash, credit card, or check.

Rio Dental Group allows patients to pay with their CareCredit card. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card designed to cover out-of-pocket costs at over 225,000 providers nationwide. After leaving the office, card holders will be able to make convenient monthly payments towards their balance. To learn more, visit the CareCredit website.
